The Plough Inn’s philosophy of supporting local food producers extends further than just the ingredients for our menus and we offer a fantastic array of Kentish drinks. Our 4 traditional hand pumps serve an ever changing array of high quality ales from the following brewers: Old Dairy, Whitstable brewery, Gadd’s, Westerham brewery, Wantsum & Hopdeamon.
A resurgence in the popularity of real ales (thanks in no small part to our friends at CAMRA) has seen some wonderful artisan brewers open for business over the last decade or so. Sharing the love for variety we also offer ciders from makers, Hush Heath, Biddenden & Duddas Tun all from Kent.
For the drivers and youngsters amongst us we also support Owlet and Kingsdown from Kent, Fevertree from London, Frobishers from Devon, Fentimans from Northumberland. We also offer Becks blue, Krombacher, Westerns Ciders and all three flavours of Seedlip gin as alcohol ‘free’ options.
Continuing with the local theme we also serve Kentish lager from Whitstable brewery, Curious brew lager from Chapel Down & Jakes IPA from Hush Heath, Local vineyards that we use include Chapel Down, Biddenden, Simpsons & Hush heath; we’re not ones for English reds we must say, however the Pinot Noir that we have on the wine list is stunningly full of flavour and interesting as it is slightly petillant – worth every penny!
Marianne’s favourite tipple is a gin or four so in the light of this she has sourced 24 UK gins that have all been tried & tested by her personally with their recommended tonics and individual garnishes.
Richard has more recently discovered the world of rums and has squeezed all 13 of his favourites onto the top shelf!
We also offer lighter snacks over the lunch period from Tuesday to Saturday including open rolls, ploughmans and sausages!
