The Plough Inn, Stalisfield in Kent is an independent country pub with rooms, situated in the North Downs area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s a beautiful 15th Century Wealden hall house with views across rolling farm and woodland down towards the north Kent coast.
Our country pub rooms are in a new purpose-built Kent barn nestled in the pub garden and surrounded by countryside. Each suite is named after a local woodland and has its own individual country style, combining exposed wood and earthy neutrals that reflects the natural environment to create a relaxed feel.
Downstairs there’s a large bedroom with a sumptuous kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom, featuring a large, double-ended bath and a spacious walk-in shower.
Upstairs on the split level there’s a generous lounge and dining area, with far-reaching views across the countryside.
The suites can easily accommodate families, with various bed options including a kingsize bed that can also be split into two singles, and a double sofa bed. Z bed and travel cot available on request.
There’s easy access from the ground floor across the garden to the pub restaurant.

In the pub itself, there’s a cosy nook and open fires and a wealth of exposed beams providing traditional charm.
We’d recommend letting us know if you want to dine with us so we can reserve you a table to make sure you don’t miss out. We create our fresh food using locally sourced, high quality ingredients. We offer a varied daily specials board as well as traditional favourites, and an array of Kentish drinks.
On the doorstep are miles of footpaths crossing chalk grasslands and winding through rich woodlands.
If you want to venture further afield, it’s a short drive to seaside favourite Whitstable, famous for its oysters. There’s the city of Canterbury, with a great range of shops and picture perfect streets. Faversham is getting a name for its trendy antique shops and wine bars at Standard Quay.
There are a wealth of lovely gardens to visit including world famous Sissinghurst, as well as plenty of great houses and castles such as Chartwell and Dover Castle. There is a real diversity of seaside towns, from quaint Folkestone Harbour with its cobbled streets and the Creative Quarter to surfing at sandy Viking Bay near Broadstairs.
Families won’t get bored either, with Leeds Castle less than half an hour drive, Dreamland vintage theme park in Ramsgate and safari experience at nearby Port Lympne.
The Plough Inn, Stalisfield boast amazing views over the Kent countryside so why not take a short break with us in your ‘home’ from home! We are a certified site for Camping & Caravan Members and can take up to 4 ‘homes’ at any one time. We offer the basics which include water, waste and electric hook up but it means we only hit a niche market keeping the site as quiet and tranquil as the surroundings it’s set in. At just £17 per night including the hook up its’ far cheaper than taxi home and means you can enjoy good food & drink without the nominated driver missing out on the fun! Don’t have a mobile home? then why not pitch a tent proper ‘country style’ and enjoy a night of sleeping under the stars.
